Blackjack is one of the most popular and loved casino games, both live and online, because it’s an easy game to play and one that is more based on skill and less based on luck, so chances of winning the game are much higher than the real money casino games and other casino games. We have talked a lot about the game of Blackjack on our channel, but decided it’s time to refresh a few important and useful tips to help you win the game. So, if you’re new to the game of Blackjack or just want a reminder of a few tips to increase your chances of winning the game, then is for you. #1.
Start Small Don’t rush yourself to win fast or thinking you’ll win a lot of money right from the start by betting a lot of money. You can make a huge bet and win, but it’s best to be cool, calm, and grow steady with your game and bankroll. The more confidence you’ll gain, the more hands you’ll win, making less and less mistakes. When you sit down at the Blackjack table, watch your friends first, have a drink, see how the dealer is playing and handling the game and get an idea of the pace of the current game, just feel it to get into it.
Once you’re ready to make your bet and play, start with the minimum bet, warm yourself into the game. As you get more and more into the game and increase your bankroll, than you can start betting for higher amounts to win even more money. #2. Managing Your Bankroll It is important to play for an amount of money that you are “willing to lose.” Sounds weird, but there’s a lot of logic behind it. You should play for an amount of money that you can lose and continue your day (and life) regularly as if nothing happened.
This way, you’ll not lose your pants, house or family, but also play freely, enjoy the game more, be less afraid during the game and make less mistakes, which will also increase your chances of winning. So, set yourself with a bankroll you can lose in the worst case scenario, be it $100, $200, $500 or whatever feels right to you. Follow the bankroll rule, don’t chase your losses, play freely and enjoy the game. #3. Choosing The Right Table You’ll find many Blackjack tables at the casino, but not all are the same, so it’s important to choose the right table for you.
This means, that you should look for a table with liberal playing rules. What does that mean exactly? Here are some of the things you should look for when choosing a Blackjack table to play at: Choose a table where the dealer stands on soft 17 Choose a table where the dealer pays on 18 If you’re playing on a budget, look for a table with a minimum bet that suits your bankroll Play at tables that pay 3-2 on Blackjack and avoid tables that pay 6-5 or even money on Blackjack Choose a table where players can double down on any two cards Choose a table with fewer playing decks (single or double-deck game), as chances of winning increase as opposed to tables with multiple playing decks (6 or 8-deck game). There’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to find a Blackjack table that meets all these requirements, but you get the idea of what to look for at a Blackjack table before deciding to sit down and play it. #4. Make Basic Blackjack Strategy Your Best Friend It sounds as if basic strategy is meant for beginner players, but that’s far from it.
Even the pros still use basic strategy because basic is…well…the basics, the foundation to win the game. Don’t try to read and learn all kind of complex and advanced Blackjack strategies, as basic strategy will do just fine to win the game, at both live and online Blackjack games. Learn and remember when to hit, stand, split and double on Blackjack hands and just like that, with enough practice, you’ll be able to potentially reduce the house edge in your favor. Blackjack is not a guessing game and mathematicians have been studying the game of Blackjack for more than 60 years. This is how the basic strategy has come to life and works to this day. So, learn the basic Blackjack strategy, practice it, memorize and then hit the tables and see how you’ve become a much better player and win a lot more hands and money implementing it during the game.
#5. Use a Strategy Card This may seem like an obvious tip, but chances are you won’t find many players (if any) using a strategy card at the casino. This doesn’t need to concern you. If you don’t remember the basic Blackjack strategy chart by heart, it’s fine to use a strategy card. Don’t worry about what other players will say, because your goal is to make money, not please anybody else. So, you let them talk and laugh, while you’ll be laughing your way to the bank.
You can find and use a laminated plastic strategy card or print the chart yourself. It’s perfectly legal and smart to use them when you’re not sure about the right decision for a certain hand or in order to avoid making mistakes. Just know, that for security reasons, casino do not allow players to place strategy cards or anything else on the table, but you can freely hold it in your hands and use the card and the chart when you’re unsure about a hand at play. #6. Ignore the Insurance Bet It’s smart to have insurance in life as you don’t know what can happen, but this does not apply to Blackjack. The house will have a 6% advantage over you in an insurance bet.
So, if you make a Blackjack, you will only win your initial bet back. If the dealer wins, then it’s a no win and no loss situation. Remember that insurance is a sucker bet. Don’t make it, ignore it. #7. Avoid the First Base Seat If it’s possible, try to avoid sitting in the first base seat.
If you sit at the first base seat and the dealer is quick at handing out cards, it means that you will have less time to think and ponder about your next move. On the other hand, if you sit a couple of seats down, then you’ll have more time to think about your next move. #8.
Don’t Listen to Other Players People talk at the Blackjack table, maybe less than at the poker table, but there’s still chatter among the players. Don’t let this chatter surrounding you effect your game. The game of Blackjack is between you and the dealer, no one else. Playing decisions of other players have no effect in the long run on your odds of winning.
So, stay calm, stay focused, use the basic Blackjack strategy and concentrate on your own hand and the dealer’s hand to make the right decision to win that hand. #9. Don’t Play Tables That Use a Continuous Shuffler Continuous shuffling machines shuffle cards after each round. The result is more hands that are being dealt per hour, and so more exposure of your bankroll to the house edge. You should play at tables that use a traditional mechanical shuffler. On these tables, the cards are shuffled after 50%-75% of them have been played.
You can also play at tables where the dealer manually shuffles the cards. It’s also wise to play at tables with other players, as this will reduce the number of hands you play per hour, which will decrease the exposure of your bankroll to the house edge. #10.
Go Easy on the Booze When you play at the casino, alcoholic drinks may be “free” which will tempt you to drink and have fun. There’s nothing wrong with drinking a little bit, but remember that you are playing to win and make money, so go easy on the booze and stay focused on the game, making the right decisions. #11. Practice Makes Perfect Just like anything else in life, practice makes perfect and it’s no different when it comes to Blackjack.
You can practice Blackjack by playing free at online casinos, playing free online Blackjack and when you feel ready, deposit and make money online or head over to the land-based casino near you. There are hundreds of great promotions you can use to practice Blackjack online, amongst them are free cash, no deposit bonuses, match bonuses and more. #12. Enjoy The Game First and foremost, you should enjoy the game. When you’re enjoying the game you’re playing, you feel good, you make less mistakes and you increase your chances of winning. No matter if you decide to play live or online casino, play with a good mood, enjoy the play and the game, remember that it’s just a game and use all the tips we’ve just mentioned.
